  1. Looks great dear. I think its one of your best compositions and you should finnish it. please. I think you should add red to the background to give it more depth, just a bit of perspective even if your just making it up and it would be nice if you would go over the skin [in oil?] and add saturation and creaminess. The strokes are scratchy-er that usual...That may be something you want to work on [and would be easily solved in oil]

  2. I agree my strokes are very scratchy and for my next painting ill keep a sharp eye out for that but im pretty sick of this painting and i added a slight light halo around him in some areas to make the black less plain but thank you! cant wait for oil! = D

  3. Noooo since you deleted the last post, you deleted the awesome conversation where I owned you! Haha.

But more to the point, I think you should pay more attention to the textures in the painting, since the halo seems to be out of place and the shirt doesn't look like cloth, but more like wood. Perhaps you could adjust how much paint you use, or even try (don't kill me for saying this) dry brushing to get a softer candlelit effect. Like de la Tour. (Who did NOT do vanitas btw.)

I don't know. I'm not an expert. But you should try new things and see if you like them.

  4. lol tried brushing looked more like wood but i know whatcha mean but i should have blended the shirt more but got way sick because the light is so intense there was to many blacks that made it look flat [although i made the black, not from tube] and the glow extended really far out at first [up to like the thing on the right] but looked way missplaced but i like the small glow now and due to the clashing advice ive been getting on the piece i think im just going to leave it alone oh and by theway i actually forgot to paint the candle light and thats actually just blank wall primer =b i was satisfied with that though lol

and de la tour DID DO VANITAS

  7. um...not to bud in or anything but the term "vanitias" means the "contemplation of death" so since a lot of his candle lit paintings with a female deal with that...it kind of means that De La Tour did indeed create of series or paintings that are commonly refereed to as "vanitas" paintings. Its not a title its just a term...

    Jessy loses.
